Modernize the code. Keep every rule it enforces.

Spectrum extracts the business rules, data flows, and dependencies from legacy code and turns them into the specification for the new system. Then it checks the rewrite against that specification.

Sound familiar?

Nobody knows what it does

The documentation is incomplete or outdated, and the business rules are in code the current team did not write.

Rules go missing

A validation, a pricing condition, or an order of operations gets missed in the rewrite and noticed in production.

Static analysis shows structure, not behavior

It maps modules, calls, and schemas, but not what the system enforces or why.

Meet Spectrum

Static analysis maps structure, and Spectrum extracts what the system does.

Extract

Spectrum builds a structured knowledge base of the legacy system's behavior: rules, data flows, dependencies, and constraints, each linked to the code that implements it.

Specify

The knowledge base becomes the specification for the new system, merged with whatever documentation exists. Where docs and code disagree, the team learns which documented rules the code stopped enforcing years ago.

Verify

As the rewrite proceeds, Spectrum extracts the same facts from the new code and compares them. A rule present in the old system's knowledge base and absent from the new one is a gap, listed with its source.
